Walensky Resigns and Dylan Mulvaney is Putting on a Show

Dr. Walensky resigned today as Director of the CDC. Maybe she has a conscience after all… Nah.

Something has bothered me about the Dylan Mulvaney story that goes far beyond the bizarre choices of corporate marketing executives.

It’s that Dylan doesn’t seem to be sincere in his supposed gender dysphoria. He just doesn’t exhibit the characteristics of someone who really wants to change their sex. In my opinion, he’s pretending to be trans for attention. But let’s get something straight at the beginning. If he hasn’t had the below-the-waist operation, he’s not transgender, he’s just crossdressing.

I know a little about the authenticity (or lack thereof) of the behavior of a gender dysphoric person because I’ve worked for 23 years as a plastic surgeon in a part of the world where sex change operations are very common. I don’t do the below-the-waist gender reassignment surgery myself- my good friend does and he’s just too good for me to be pretending I’m filling a need- but I’m frequently called in to modify faces of young men so they look like young women. I’ve been told by patients, their friends and doctors that I’m very good at it.

I don’t know what it is about me and faces. One time, an older fraternity brother who was leaving the year I was coming in and who lived in an apartment in Boston (as opposed to the frat house where I lived) asked me to find his father in a class picture of about 150 boys lined up shoulder-to-shoulder and photographed in the court of Philips Exeter Academy about 30 years previously. First of all, I had only seen him twice because he came to an early lacrosse practice being an outgoing All-American and because I was visiting his apartment on the day in question. George was a great lacrosse player and was on the cover of the NCAA Lacrosse magazine that year. So I had seen his face before.

The faces of the boys were less than 1/2 cm in longest dimension in the 1940s print he had framed on his wall but I found his father in about 30 seconds. It was something about the mouth on both of them. The other 149 didn’t quite have it.

None of that is relevant to the point of the post. It only explains why I know something about the affect and behaviors of true gender dysphorics. I’ve met and talked to at least 50 and observed about twice that many. Mulvaney is not someone who is changing his body so that it fits what he feels on the inside. He is a flamboyant gay man who has created a somewhat scary caricature of “female-ness” that is truly freakish in it’s exaggeration of unbecoming characteristics.

Dylan’s young woman is dumb, histrionic, and overly silly. She wears too much make-up, has an eating disorder, and doesn’t know what March Madness is. Those are not the characteristics of someone who is trapped in a male body and desperately wishes to transition. They are the characteristics of an attention-seeking gay male who doesn’t find females very attractive.

His theater might change and I hope it does. But right now, it is misogynistic, actually. He didn’t celebrate “365 Days of Girlhood” as he said recently when he claimed to recall his upbringing as a girl, having periods and getting crushes on boys; he celebrated a fraud; a mean fraud, actually. The group most upset by this must be the women he is mocking. It’s not feminists as they have morphed into what they represent today. They’ve already demonstrated support for Mulvaney’s mission. Women who shun today’s feminist ideals but most assuredly endorse the original tenets of feminism (equal rights and so forth) are insulted by what Dylan is doing.

Look, I don’t have a problem with someone trying to make a living by getting followers on Tic Toc. What he does- the flamboyance and everything- is not my cup of tea but he’s playing a role and he’s basically a comedian. He’s not bad. He’s kind of funny, trying to do jumping jacks and so forth in his videos. But I don’t like him mocking real women one bit. C’mon guys. First you enter women’s athletic events and deprive women of getting recognition as champions in sports they have spent their lives competing in, and then you mock them this way?

No. It’s the way society goes along with it that makes me angry. Society should tell Lia Thomas he can’t compete with women. He has a male body with shoulders that , as I said in my piece on him “Women’s US Open, Anyone?”, would make Michael Phelps envious. The discussion should have ended there a long time ago. But people have become cowards. We’ve lost our collective sense of right and wrong and/or the courage to speak up about it.

How did we get to the point where society so readily accepts and believes and follows people - even confers upon them Messiah-like status, when they do not have the background to understand the nuances of these complicated questions?; people like Dylan Mulvaney a gay cross-dresser seeking attention on gender dysphoria and the trans experience when he isn’t gender dysphoric as far as I can tell and hasn’t lived the trans experience in that he hasn’t gotten the definitive surgery yet as far as I can tell from the internet, Greta Thunberg, a high school dropout with almost no knowledge of chemistry and physics- let alone climate-science, demanding the world of adults- including real live scientists- adopt policies she says will lessen the effects of man’s negative influence on climate . Just wait until I post a primer on climate science, Bill Gates on a 100 nm respiratory virus policies to slow the spread after he tried to scare everyone (after he invested, three months before the virus supposed ly was discovered loose in the community, in the company that would partner with Pfizer to make 10s of Billions when he knows almost nothing about viruses. Think about this for someone as mathematically adept as GATES: In October of 2020, he was lobbying for contact tracing! It was too late to do that in January!- yet Gates was on morning show after morning show spewing BS .
