Reid - the "new cases" count is based on positive PCR results that may be up to 99.9% false positive. Moreover, they are testing just for one pathogen, so finding a few SARS-CoV-2 genomes or, in the case of an antigen test, a few viral proteins, doesn't mean that this virus is responsible for symptoms, if any.

So the people in Australia don't actually have it? It's just false positives? Why would the authorities in Australia allow this to be displayed by Our World in Data. It makes them look very bad, whatever the explanation. If you're right, it even looks worse for everywhere, implying that the figures are inflated by a lot more than 5x or even 10 x. I don't know. Something is seriously wrong here. How do you explain the record-setting deaths per day, they say, from Covid? And why are they suddenly getting false positives now? Why didn't they get them before. The whole thing is getting shadier and shadier, not less.

First, as the CDC's EPIC Study published in 2015 concluded, no pathogen was found in 62% of x-ray diagnosed pneumonias in hospitalized persons, even though the best labs in the world were looking. Second, from the beginning of the pandemic they test with a very sensitive method only for COVID - so they find it. Finally, what about data of persons with a negative COVID test, but with a respiratory infection? No data means they lie; go back to check the CDC EPIC Study (Etiology of Pneumonia in Community).

How could Australia let all the cases run up knowing they are not giving correct results. They look like idiots!. And the deaths? You're saying they are from something else. Again, it makes the Aussie politicians look like idiots.

Hello Norman... (Chester Bichon/ejd) The daily 'Case' counts are essentially meaningless at this point.

1. Their are insufficient test available her in Maine to test more than 50% of the requests.

2. All the home test being done go unreported to the CDC or any agency.

3. Yesterday, during a Televised 'Report' Maine's CDC Director, Nirav Shah, admitted his office has more than 46,000 official tests which have not been counted or reported because they lack the 'Person-Power' to certify the tests. (our positivity rate the last week is 22.4%... so that's is at least 12,000 unrecorded positive tests).

Maine is adding "Waste Water Sampling". Positive cases shed live virus in their fecal waste. The researchers at CDC have 'determined' that the comparative Viral Count week to week leads positive symptoms by 3-4 days. And there is a highly predictive warning signal that can be utilized to determine active trends in Viral Infectivity for the entire catchment area. They are implementing this in 12 localities from large cities to smaller rural waste processing systems to get a snapshot of Viral distribution and trends.

It actually one of the most interesting and intriguing new metrics I've heard about. --ejd

Finding an enveloped RNA virus in "waste water" is pure fantasy. Everyone laughed for a good reason on a paper from Brazil finding the SARS-CoV-2 virus early 2019 in sewers.

So, the idea is "Full of Shit"?

Exactly. PCR is not for everybody, as a lot of my students found out.
