Really looking forward to seeing your portraits . I'll be sure to give you my feedback with what I see when I look . I think your portrait of your girlfriend is excellent and of course there is a lot of emotion especially connected to her circumstances . I think when people don't know anyone is watching them ,you get the real emotions . I think Freud never wanted anyone to smile ???

Is there anything you can't do ? Kind of wondering ,as time goes by and more truth comes to light , will people start to second guess who they believed to be true ? With respect to painting , I think one of the best "psychological " painters of emotions was the artist Alice Neel- lots of information and videos of her work . I understand the desire, in the earlier journey of painting ,to make something that look like what we see . However , the really hard part is to paint the "emotion" into the subject matter. When you use the word "perpetrator" what emotion does that stir up ? I am recalling a great art class whereby we were asked to draw and put an emotion into an inanimate object ( sadness) and although the object ( a tea pot ) was totally distorted when drawn (something I love "distortions" - like children's art) the number of images show casing the emotion of "sadness " was worthy of an art show in my opinion. Keep going with your wonderful images of these perpetrators as a sort of classical training , then switch , once comfortable , to the emotional feeling of what a "perpetrator of dishonesty" could look like ,in your opinion ? Thank you for your generous shout out Dr Sheftall.

Great advice, Linelle. I am going to show some more today. You will see that I have portrayed these people's emotions in the portraits. My girlfriend had the problems I told you about. Look at the portrait of her. I did the painting from a photo that I took just as she was beginning to slip away and was scared of how far she might go. It's subtle but I got just what I wanted. My theory is that people try to hide their emotions. Thus, getting them trying to hide them is superior to overdoing it (going over the line in the other direction). Please tell me what you think when you see it. I looked up Alice Neel and Lucien Freud after you suggested I do it. I especially liked Freud's self portraits. As for the perpetrators, I tried to make Dr. Birx look unintelligent and Dr. Wen look a little bit evil. I like what I did with Dr. Wen. I also applied that idea to Peter Daszak and succeeded somewhat. Please comment on them too.

I never liked Joan Baez. There is something about her... I can't connect.

Weird but absolutely true.

I used to paint and always test colors on the sides. I guess if you feel it is a bad habit, go get some tiny pieces of canvas and clip them to your canvas. Kind of like post it notes, but canvas.

Anyway, Fauci. He is still worshiped by many many many.

You could title yours... THE Arrogant Lying Very Wealthy Prick ~~ We Are Very Certain He Does Not Sleep Well At Night Knowing That He Destroyed So Many Lives. - or not.

Oh and to add

Your painting skill is "just okay" I am sure it is JUST the subject.

The likeness to the criminal is quite accurate - smug

Your skin tones look better than the Baez painting. Painting landscapes is great for learning to paint abstracts because you have to pay attention to the same elements, composition, hue, tone, texture. I love Mitch Albala’s books.

One of my favorites books on abstract painting is by artist Jane Davies. I work in cold wax and oil, though I don’t have anything up on Etsy yet, or a website where you can view. I was on instagram but I just hate social media. Have fun painting and thank you for sharing. 🎨
