"When Arrogance Destroys a Legacy: The Downfall of Francis Collins"
Francis Collins was the US Leader of the Human Genome project, an achievement that could reasonably be considered the most important in molecular biology in the 20th century. His exalted place in history was assured.
He worked his way up in medical bureaucracy to become the Director of the NIH; another feather in his cap for the history books.
Then it all came apart just as he was planning to retire (or did he retire abruptly because his nefarious activities started becoming discovered).
Here is a partial list:
His funding of Gain of Function research in China- yes, the NIH under his direction supplied the grants to Eco-Health Alliance some of which got subcontracted to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for GOF studies,
The besmirching of voices who understood much more of the science underlying the SARS-2 virus and COVID-19 than he, by calling anyone who advanced the possibility that the virus was manipulated in the lab, a “conspiracy theorist”(this was only part of the way Dr. Collins was deeply involved in the lab origin cover-up. He was called by Jeremy Farrar and assisted in arranging the late-night conference call on Feb 1 to get all involved to change their stories and now claim the virus had to have come from natural zoonotic spillover. Two days later the “Proximal Origins” paper was written by Robert Garry, Kristian Anderson, Andrew Rambaut, Ed Holmes, and Ian Lipkin, some of whom got nice big fat grants for the next year, compliments of Anthony Fauci. So Fauci is awarding multi-million dollar grants of your taxpayer dollars, based not on the merits of the research proposals but on who did him (and Collins) the most favors by lying about where the virus originated. That is the cesspool that the awarding of grants had become and the Master plumber was Anthony Fauci, Francis Collins’s bag man).
Making idiotic public statements on video such as claiming, “masks PREVENT the spread of COVID” (caps mine), certainly resulting in the deaths of innocent people (because people believed him as NIH Director and actually thought they couldn’t get the virus if they were wearing a mask. But some of those mask-wearers did get infected with SARS-2 and some of those died). Note: Dr. Collins is not stupid enough to think masks PREVENT the spread of a 100 nm diameter respiratory virus. I think he said it out of arrogance as “the voice of authority”. But it caused innocent people to lose their lives and he has to pay the price.
Asking Anthony Fauci and Cliff Lane in the now infamous email, for a published, devastating takedown of the GBD written by “fringe epidemiologists” from Oxford, Stanford and Harvard (Sunetra Gupta, Jay Bhattacharya, and Martin Kulldorff)
Being front and center in the pharmaceutical kickback scandal whereby scientists (including Collins, Anthony Fauci, etc) doing research in taxpayer-funded labs get patents on processes and molecules developed in those labs and are awarded royalties when those pharma companies use those processes and molecules. Of course funding to those pharma companies comes from the NIH through people like Anthony Fauci whose boss was Francis Collins (in an, “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” arrangement; the very definition of conflict of interest).
Dr. Francis Collins was deeply involved in the origins of the largest crime (in terms of lives lost) in history, and its cover-up. What price he will have to pay will depend on the public’s demand for retribution. As someone who looked up to Dr. Collins as so many medical scientists who came through behind him, his is considered perhaps the most tragic story of the last three years.
Much more detail of the downfall of Dr. Francis Collins - the demise of a giant reveals an ordinary common criminal- can be found in my book (audiobook coming soon, narrated by me): https://www.amazon.com/Heroes-Villains-COVID-19-Book-Lists/dp/B0BKHQ7CWN/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
Reid, If you read the transcript of Fauxi's deposition (I have...every painful word) you will discover why getting them to testify under oath will have no value -- they have a 100% forgetting rate. The best part was about why Fauxi changed his mind over a weekend on the utility of masks -- it was along the line of "I have no idea, but it must have been something really compelling". Uh-huh.
my sister worked at NIH for 30 years.
She "loved" Collins and all of her work mates were so sad to see him go.
Funny, when I heard the news he was "retiring" or leaving, whatever, I knew it was to cover his ass.
